Genealogical research on several related families of South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana. The first part, "Book I," traces the ancestors of the author's mother, Carol Campbell McIntosh, from 1623 to 1774, beginning with William Bayly and his wife Mary Fisher Bayly (later Mary Crosse), a Quaker who settled in Charleston (S.C.) in the late 17th century. Her daughter Susanna married Edward Rawlins (died ca. 1699), and later Henry Wigington. "Book II" begins with the genealogy of Mary Crosse's other children, Anne, who married Thomas Hepworth (d. 1728), and Mary, who married William Blamyre. Also includes information on Thomas Carter (d. 1774) of Georgia and his descendants, as well as information on the Wolfe family, the Hayden family, the Campbell family, the McIntosh family, and the family of the author's wife, the de la Vergne family of New Orleans (La.). Supplemental material includes "A Creole Family's History of New Orleans" by Hayden Carter de la Vergne McIntosh, and photocopies of family photographs and documents.
